"Despite Slavonia, let your beauty hurt... Defy the rain, defy the cold, defy fatigue and greyness", this is how the organizers invite all lovers of tradition to the 59th edition of Vinkovac autumns. According to estimates, around one hundred thousand people will visit Vinkovci in the next ten days, when dukas and tambourine songs will once again shine through the streets, and the city will proudly show the world the priceless wealth of your traditional heritage.
The original Slavonian life will first be shown at the Folklorni večeri, the County Fair of Folklore, which will gather 45 KUDs in a tent on Vinkovački Jeseni Square in six days. After we find out the best KUD at the county level, which will represent us at shows throughout Croatia, 39 societies will present their customs at the State Show of Original Croatian Folklore on the last Saturday and Sunday.
When it comes to nurturing traditions, we must not forget the youngest ones either. They will present their clothes, song and dance first tomorrow at the Inter-County Fair of Children's Folklore Groups, and then on Sunday at the Parade of Children's Folklore Groups when, weather permitting, almost two thousand children will parade through the streets of Vinkovci.
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, September 20. With the motto "Hands of Šokac memories", Slavonian actors and actresses, under the direction of Marko Sabljaković, will point out the wealth of Šokac and Slavonian traditions inherited by numerous generations in order to pass them on to those yet to come.
Several thousand members of 75 folklore groups from Croatia and the diaspora and, to everyone's delight, many horse-drawn carriages and horsemen will pass in the Ceremonial Parade of the participants on the last day of the event.
The ten-day traditional manifestation unofficially begins with the Garden of Ideas, which offers a handful of workshops and performances throughout the days. At 10 a.m., Slavonski Sokak also opened its doors, and 48 local producers will offer their products in booths and booths. It is one of the most frequented locations of the Vinkovac autumns, where entertainment facilities, folklore and tambura section, traditional crafts, catering offer are stacked against each other.
In addition to the indispensable tambura players, Sokak is traditionally completed by our hunters and fishermen. Tomorrow and Sunday, 18 fishermen's associations will cook fish, and next Friday, visitors will be cooking carp on forks. As many hunting associations will cook their famous hunting shepherd's pie from Monday to Thursday, we will taste it from 20 p.m., except for the last day when the distribution is scheduled for 19 p.m.
For a glass of "divine" drop, we will return to Vinski šor in Duga Street. Eight winemakers with their offer will attract a large number of wine lovers, and we must not forget that in the wine trailer you will have the opportunity to taste the wines of the continental medal winners at Decanter 2024.
Bircuz, an inn from the past, is one of the favorite gathering places for lovers of Shoka culture for the third year, where you can relax at a table with checkered tablecloths and enjoy the sound of tambura music. This year's evening entertainment is provided by: Parni valjak, Zsa Zsa, who will perform on Sunday at the Children's Vinkovac Jeseni, Vatra, TS Caprio, TS Garavi, Klapa Rišpet and Ivo Amulić, Z++, Slavonske lola, Ivan Šebalj and The Bechars and for the end of the Dalmatino group.
The novelty of this year's Vinkovci Autumn is the Tourist Train that will run every day through Duga Street, and it is an ideal opportunity to get to know the people of Vinkovci even better in its September "ruvu".
