Pilgrims, nature lovers and all friends of the Camino are invited to be part of this event – the ceremonial opening of the section. Camino Zadar, a new part of the network Camino CroatiaThe opening will take place on Saturday, 5. April 2025., as part of County Days of Zadar County 2025.

With this event, Croatia further strengthens its place on the European map of pilgrimage destinations, thus joining the European network of Camino routes leading to Santiago de Compostela.
Camino Zadar Route offers a unique opportunity for spiritual peace, cultural enrichment and enjoyment of the natural beauty of the Zadar region. Leading through historic city centers, picturesque landscapes and ancient roads, this route allows every pilgrim to feel the spirit of times gone by, following in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims.
The pilgrimage route is long. 13 kilometers, and all registered participants will receive a pilgrim passport by collecting stamps Compostela, an official pilgrim certificate that testifies to the journey taken on the opening of the Camino Zadar section.
Camino Croatia – part of the global pilgrimage network
Camino Croatia includes multiple routes that pass through different parts of the country, connecting Croatian heritage with the great European pilgrimage tradition. Camino Imota, Camino Krk, Camino Sibenik, Camino Korcula, Camino Podravina, Camino Banovina, other active sections of the Camino Croatia route and now the Camino Zadar They testify to the growing interest in pilgrimage tourism and connect Croatia with a global movement that encourages spirituality, togetherness, exploration of cultural treasures, but also finding oneself and peace within and with oneself.

The Camino Zadar project is led by the Zadar County in cooperation with the Brotherhood of St. James Croatia and eight tourist boards: the Zadar County Tourist Board, the Zadar, Nin, Starigrad, Pakoštane, Sukošan, Sv. Filip i Jakov and Vrsi Tourist Board. The Brotherhood of St. James is the official Croatian representative in the European Federation “Camino Europa Compostela” and the Arch-Confraternity of St. James in Santiago de Compostela.

Opening ceremony program
- 07:30 – Gathering and beginning of the pilgrimage walk at the cemetery in Kožino
- Route through: Prorokovići, Ninske Stanovi
- 12:00 – Arrival in Nin and solemn Holy Mass in the Church of St. Anselm celebrated by Father Ivo Topalović, military chaplain in the Archdiocese of Zadar
- After Mass: Ceremony of Compostela Distribution
- Pilgrim lunch – provided by the Zadar County Hunting Association
