The smallest cathedral in the world – the Church of the Holy Cross in Nin

The oldest royal city of Nin it hides many interesting things. One of them is the Church of the Holy Cross, i.e. "the smallest cathedral in the world". It owes its name to the British architect Thomas Jackson, who, back in the 19th century, named it so because of its beauty. The Church of the Holy Cross is the most valuable preserved monument of ancient Croatian church architecture and one of the symbols of Nin. Its position and beauty dominates the area where it is located.

It was built in the 9th century, in the period of early Christianity. It is the only religious building in Nin that has remained intact since its construction until today. It is 7,8 meters long and 7,6 meters wide. The height according to internal measurements is 8,2 meters, and the thickness of the walls is 57 centimeters.

Vrbnik has the "narrowest street in the world"

The epithet is always interesting to tourists, so localities like this are attractive tourist destinations. Spreuerhofstrasse in the German city of Reutlingen was entered into the Guinness Book of Records in 2006 as the narrowest street in the world. It is actually a passage between two buildings that is 31 centimeters wide at the narrowest part and 50 centimeters at the widest, and the average street width is about 40 centimeters wide.

Vrbnik is a picturesque town on the largest Croatian island, Krk which has been writing its history for 900 years. Some are so narrow that even people cannot pass through them.

The shortest funicular in the world is located in Zagreb

With a track length of 66 meters, it is also known as the shortest cable railway in the world intended for public traffic, and connects Zagreb's Upper and Lower Towns. The lower station is located in Tomićeva street, which leads to Ilica, and the upper station is located on Strossmayer's promenade, at the foot of the Lotrščak tower. It was officially commissioned on October 8, 1890, and began working on April 23, 1893. At first, it was steam-powered, which was replaced by electric in 1934.

Vinkovci - the oldest town in Europe and a town with a rich history

As a populated area, Vinkovci has existed continuously for more than 8200 years, which, according to many archaeologists, makes them the oldest city in Europe. In the town on Bosut, two Roman emperors were born - the brothers Valentinian and Valens, and two early Christian saints - Eusebius and Pollion - lived.

The oldest cathedral in the world - St. It's blowing in Split

The story of Split has been going on for 17 centuries, since it was Roman Emperor Diocletian decided to build a palace - near the then great Roman city of Salona - where he peacefully spent the last years of his life. Ever since it was built, the Palace slowly grew and became a city that today beckons with its rich tradition, magnificent history, and the beauty of its cultural and natural heritage.

Split is located in Diocletian's Palace Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, better known as the Cathedral of St. Duja. It was built at the beginning of the fourth century as a mausoleum of Emperor Diocletian. After the destruction of the Salona in the seventh century, the surviving inhabitants turned the mausoleum into a cathedral, making it the oldest in the world. A famous local craftsman in the 13th century made an excellently preserved wooden door, and the Romanesque-Gothic belfry, built from the 13th to the 16th century, is the most enchanting detail of the Split Cathedral.
