Croatian tourist destinations among the world's top

Tourist destinations from Croatia achieved brilliant success at the world's largest tourism fair ITB in Berlin, winning prestigious awards for sustainable tourism management. The Silver Green Destinations award was awarded Vukovar-Srijem County and the Mljet National Park, while the Krka National Park received a golden Green Destinations award.

///The world's most famous destination certificate awarded to the easternmost Croatian county

In addition, two Croatian destinations were in the running for the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards. These are Ivanić-Grad and Plitvice Lakes National Park, which were among the 36 best examples of sustainable tourism practices in the world.

This award ceremony as part of the ITB Berlin fair was an exceptional opportunity to promote Croatian tourism and destinations that invest in sustainable tourism development.

– Green Destinations awards are proof of the exceptional effort and dedication of all tourism workers, especially those directly responsible for managing tourism in destinations. This shows that all important destination decisions in Croatia are made in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, she stated Dr. Katarina Miličević, director of Tourism Lab, which is the official representative of Green Destinations in Croatia.

This year's number of Croatian representatives at the Green Destinations awards was the largest to date. Croatia currently has nine tourist destinations with the Green Destinations award: two with gold, five with silver and two with bronze status, with several more in the certification process.

On the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories list for 2024 is six Croatian destinations, and Ivanić-Grad and Plitvice Lakes National Park in particular stood out, as they were among the finalists of the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards.

In terms of the number of destinations on this world list, Croatia is ranked alongside Estonia, Portugal, Slovenia and Thailand, which is the best testament to how much our country invests in sustainable tourism management and competitiveness in the global tourism market.
