In the oldest part of the house of the Renaissance writer Hanibal Lucić, which today houses the Benedictine Monastery in Hvar, selected church works of art, liturgical objects and a particularly interesting and a valuable collection of agave lace made by Benedictine nuns. Hvar lace is cherished only in the monastery, according to the tradition from 100 to 130 years ago.

The work of preparing agave threads is painstaking, as the threads are extracted from the fresh agave leaf and processed in a specific way. If there is any place where the motto "Pray and work" could be better felt, it is precisely in Monastery of Saint Benedict, whose valuable hands are either folded in prayer or intertwined with lace.
