Historical data show that as many as 14 breweries worked in Vinkovci until the Second World War. Today there is only one in the city (but a worthy one!).

The story of the first and only Vinkovac festival craft beer started in 2018, as an idea and initiative of the owner of that one (but valuable!) craft brewery in Vinkovci. Ivan Vorgić, beer enthusiast and owner of the Valentinijan brewery, is at the first edition of the festival Beeram homemade brought 12 brewers and attracted a large number of beer lovers. This is exactly what prompted him to - to the joy of brewers and beer drinkers - continue to maintain it.
Programme
This year the Beeram festival is happening domestically for the seventh time and returns to the very heart of the city. Or, as the people of Vinkovci say: "Under the lamp". If you come to the center of Vinkovci, this is it July 6st, between 16 p.m. and 2 a.m., you will see that legendary "lamp" and everything will be clear to you.
The Beeram festival is primarily domestic a place of good fun and an opportunity to taste something new, so visitors visit it in increasing numbers every year, and brewers are happy to present their beers there. This year it will their own craft pour beer: Valens, Beckers, Walkow, Stric, Funky, 5th Element, Nova runda, Međimurski Lepi Dečki, Slavonica and Franz, so the festival is a unique opportunity to taste some excellent beers that are not always and everywhere available.

In addition to tasting numerous types of craft beer, the evening hours of the festival will certainly be enjoyed by music connoisseurs. Visitors will be entertained from 20 p.m Sonic Eye from Osijek, and around 21 p.m. the garage blues noise funk combo from Vinkovci takes the stage Delta 21. The highlight of the music program is reserved for the unique Damir Urbana.
The Roman emperor from Vinkovci was a big beer lover
The historical connection between Vinkovci and beer continues since the time of the Roman Empire. Vinkovci are known as the oldest inhabited area in Europe, which has existed for more than 8.300 years. It was here that two Roman emperors were born - Valentinian and Valens, brothers who for a time together ruled the east of the Roman Empire.
It is common knowledge that the ancient Romans were lovers of wine, but the emperor Valens was on his own, so he preferred beer, according to historians. Beer drinkers were considered barbarians in those times, and the emperor's penchant for beer earned him the nickname "sabaiarius", i.e. - beer mug. There is no record that the emperor was particularly bothered by that nickname.

In Slavonia, even today, some will say that a real man is adorned with a mustache and belly, so by Saturday try to grow a mustache and go to Vinkovci to Beeram locals to work on the belly. If someone in the heat of the tasting manages to tell you clearly that you are a true "sabaiarius", definitely pay them for a beer.
Cheers!
