After being partially closed for more than two years, the Skrad excursion site, which combines nature, history and local tradition in the best possible way, will be fully open to visitors again on the first day of May. It's about the Green Hole and the Devil's Passage, a protected area that, due to its exceptional and special beauty and geological value, was declared a special geomorphological reserve in 1962.

In a renewed look, the picnic area awaits nature lovers and hikers during the extended weekend – of 1. to 4. May – and is ready to show off its natural beauty with trails and newly renovated bridges through its impressive canyon.
Most of the accompanying events have been announced for Saturday, May 3rd. Namely, then, as part of the MountainHER international project, which is implemented in Skrad by the Local Development Agency PINS, a pop-up event will be organized with a series of interesting events - from the fair of domestic products and handicrafts where local producers will be presented, through the music program for which the Show band Promili is responsible, to the cooking show with YouTube chef Saša from "Saša's Kitchen".

Let us recall that floods and heavy rains in the fall of 2022 destroyed the bridges in Vražje prolaz, and after assessing the damage, developing a reconstruction and rehabilitation project, the Skrad picnic area is once again ready for hikers, nature lovers, and families, offering them a truly unique experience on an area of 200 hectares.

In size, this area corresponds to that of 280 football fields, four Zagreb Maksimirs or two London Hyde Parks, and it, in addition to Green source – a spring at the bottom of a shallow cave, located under a 70-meter-high cliff with a stream flowing down it – also mentioned Devil's passage – a canyon about 800 meters long, which is the result of millennia of water erosion. And at the end of one of the most beautiful canyons in Gorski Kotar, there is The cave of the husband's house, the habitat of a strictly protected species of bat (horseshoe bat), while the special feature of Zeleni vir and small hydropower plant "Munjara", built in 1922, which is still in operation and represents a monument of technical culture.

Since the expansion of the road leading from Skrad to the picnic area is still in progress, a special two-way traffic regulation is being introduced, and visitors are invited to check the dates of arrival and departure from the picnic area on the web address Zelenivir.com.hr, and refreshments in the form of food and drinks will be available throughout the weekend in the "Zeleni vir" mountain lodge, at the picnic area itself.
