Prague Castle - one of the largest castles in the world

Prague, the political, cultural and economic center of Central Europe, is a city with a rich history. They also call him "City of a thousand towers", and more than a thousand years of history are visible at every turn. The city center is one of the best preserved witness to history in Europe, and the historical buildings were built in the Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and Secession styles. It is certainly one of the things you should not miss when visiting Prague Charles Bridge over the Vltava. There is also a Jewish quarter with old synagogues, and numerous churches in the city.

Prague Castle a favorite tourist attraction

But Prague Castle, or Pražský hrad, is the most important Czech monument and one of the most important cultural institutions in the Czech Republic. The Czech kings and Roman emperors lived in one of the largest castles in the world, and today it is the residence of the Czech president. Prague Castle, located in the Hradcany district, is also one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Czech Republic.

Built in 870 as a walled fortress, the castle has changed over the years. Thus, within the Prague Castle there are examples of architectural styles of the last millennium. Within the walls are some of the most popular tourist destinations, including Cathedral of St. Vitus, The Old Royal Palace, the Golden Road or the Gunpowder Tower.

Visitors to Prague Castle have a lot to see and it takes a long time to tour. It is still one of the largest court complexes in the world, but the time set aside for getting to know it will be well spent. What you must not miss is the old royal palace. It houses, among other things, the great Vladislav Hall, the Royal Garden from 1534 and Royal mansion with Singing Fountain.
