Slow Wine Train, Via Slavonia and Baranja: Welcome to the pop-up wine line Osijek-Erdut

Did you know that one of the slowest trains in Europe runs on the Osijek-Erdut route? He confirmed it personal research on the most famous Croatian Englishman, Paul Bradbury, and on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 12 noon, that very train, this time as Slow Wine Train left Osijek station.

The Osijek-Baranja County Tourist Board decided to celebrate the RECEVIN Dionisio title of European Wine Region for 2025 with this event, but also to present the Osijek-Baranja County Wine Month, as well as the third issue of the already well-known destination magazine. Via Slavonia and Baranja whose themes are green, sustainable and hospitable.

The participants boarded the train in Osijek, where the wine journey to Erdut began. At the entrance, passengers were greeted with transportation tickets, which were, of course, given to them by a friendly conductor, and she screamed.

During the drive through the fertile Slavonian landscapes, selected wines from the Erdut vineyards from wineries were tasted. Vina Erdut, Cyber, Speed, Antunović, Magistra, Royal Hill, K55, Danubio and JakovacThe driver of this train-guided tasting was a famous Osijek wine expert. Damir Zrno, and carefully selected Danube cheeses, nuts and fruit were served with a glass of wine.

Upon arrival in Erdut, participants toured the winery Vina Erdut, where they were greeted with sparkling wine, strawberries and a walk through the vineyards overlooking the Danube. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the winery's new products, planned projects and events, such as Wine&Paint workshops that are often held here.

After Erdut, the adventure continued towards Aljmaš. In the beautiful surroundings of the winery and distillery K55 A tour of the cellars and centuries-old vineyards of Graševina and Kadarka, rescued from oblivion, was organized. It was here that the third issue of the destination magazine was officially presented. Via Slavonia and Baranja, which brings new wine stories, eno-gastro recommendations and inspiration for exploring Slavonia and Baranja. Along with top-quality wines and real vineyard delicacies at the wine picnic, visitors enjoyed a beautiful view of the confluence of the Drava and Danube. The K55 winery and distillery organizes a wine picnic every Saturday in May and June.

The return to Osijek also took place by train - with a pleasant musical surprise for all passengers, which further rounded off this unique wine story.

Slow Wine Train so it was not just a train journey, but a real experience of the Danube terroir, an encounter with wines, landscapes and people who, with their efforts, create the finest drops of this region.
