The famous Međimurje wine event Urbanovo lasts throughout May, and its key part is Pushipela festival which attracts a large number of visitors every year. The festival was named after the traditional Međimurje white wine variety, from which four types of wine are produced in Međimurje today.
From today until Sunday, May 18th, at the Cultural Center in Štrigova Međimurje winemakers will present numerous labels of this indigenous variety, and in addition to wine tasting, visitors will be able to enjoy the rich gastronomic offer and the offerings of local family farms.
The three-day tasting will be attended by 24 winemakers: Banfi, Belović, Cmrečnjak, Dvanjščak Kozol, Hažić, Horvat, Jakopić, Kerman, Kocijan, Kojter, Kossi, Kovač, Kunčić, Lovrec, Medenjak, Munđarov breg, Nemec, Novak, Preiner, St. Jerome, Štampar, Tomšić, Turk and Vuković.
Three days of wine hedonism
The festival starts at 12:2025, and an hour later the opening ceremony will begin, where diplomas from the International Wine Evaluation Štrigova 12 will be awarded, as well as the “Franjo Lebar” Award for the best Sauvignon. The festival's opening hours are on Friday from 19:13 to 19:14, on Saturday from 19:25 to XNUMX:XNUMX, and on Sunday from XNUMX:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX, and tickets for €XNUMX are available at links or at the entrance to the festival hall.
In addition to the Pushipela Festival, the organizers also announced accompanying entertainment program of the event, so on Friday after the festival at the Cultural Center follows concert of the band Kumovi, while on Saturday visitors will enjoy concert of the Rišpet klapa.
Sunday is traditionally reserved for morning “Urban's WINE RUN”, and it is a leisurely run through the vineyards. The run is not competitive, which means that there are no winners, but everyone is invited to enjoy nature, exercise and a glass of good wine. On Sunday from 15 to 18 p.m., a children's program with animators has been prepared for all families who want to visit the festival.
