One of the most recognizable symbols and manifestations of Požega, the "Golden String of Slavonia", is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. The three-day tambura festival will once again, of 6. to 8. September, bring together many well-known names of the tambura scene.
But the event, which is organized by the City of Požega, co-organizer by the TZ of the City of Požega, and one of the partners Požega-Slavonia County Tourist Board, for many years is not only a festival of song and tambourine, but much more than that.
Tambourine Festival "Golden Strings of Slavonia" is one of the most recognizable symbols of Požega and the entire Golden Valley. This year, the Požega Festival celebrates 55 years since its first edition, which is traditionally announced in Vinogorje Kutjevo, another pearl Golden Slavonia.
Beautiful ambience of the newly opened restaurant Slavonian house Vinkomir was an ideal location for filling this year's festival wine Golden strings of Slavonia. Kutjevo dd has been a partner of the Požega festival since the very beginning, and as tradition dictates, they hosted representatives of the Organizing Committee of the Golden Strings of Slavonia, sponsors and friends of the festival.
The folklore program of the 55th edition of the Golden String of Slavonia event
The folklore part of the program on the first day of the Festival, September 6, will traditionally begin with a parade of horse-drawn carriages through the streets of the city, followed by a festive parade. In the program "Folklore Treasury of the Golden Valley" local cultural and artistic societies will perform, and after the Opening Ceremony of the Golden Strings of Slavonia, in the second part of the program, guest folklore ensembles from Zagreb and Hungary will perform with the selection of Najgizdavija Šokica.
The highlight of the first evening of the tambura festival will be the semi-final tambura evening, where 15 performers and the runner-up from the "Golden Voice of the Golden Valley" festival in Kaptol will present themselves. The best performer from this evening will perform on Sunday at the closing evening. After the semi-final evening on Friday, the Gazda concert awaits us, a cross-section of thirty years of their career through numerous hits and songs, many of which were performed at the Požega festival.
The Saturday evening program will begin author's evening of Veljko Valentin Škorvage who left an indelible mark and made a great contribution to the festival and music in Požega. More than twenty of his songs will be performed by numerous soloists, accompanied by a tambura orchestra, which he will personally conduct. The evening will continue with a concert by Slavonski lolas, and a concert by Petr Graša.
The third and final evening, traditionally, is the evening of new songs. It begins with a meeting of tambura orchestras "Tambura brings us together", where orchestras from Slovenia and Osijek will be presented, as well as the orchestra of the Summer Tambura Camp from Pleternica.
The highlight of the Golden Strings of Slavonia festival, as it is every year, is Final tambourine evening, where 22 songs will be presented, and the program will be broadcast directly from the Holy Trinity Square in Požega by Croatian Radiotelevision.
Požega fisijada
As Golden Strings of Slavonia is much more than a tambura festival, it can best be seen from the rich accompanying program. Thus, on the first day, September 6, the City Park near Orljava will once again be the venue for one of the most famous and longest-running gastronomic events in Požega, Požega Fisijades.
This manifestation is not only a culinary competition in preparing the best fish, it represents tradition, culture, destination, socializing, music, a good drop and a good bite. Every year, more than 50 fish masters from all over Slavonia register for the fish preparation competition, and visitors, in addition to the smells of the finest fish stews prepared according to the traditional Slavonian recipe, can also enjoy a rich gastronomic offer, a musical program, a carp catching competition, a children's zone and ... have a good time.
As part of the festival, this year, for the third time, the children's music competition "Golden Microphone" will be held. The competition will be held in the promenade area on Saturday, September 4, starting at 10 a.m., and the winning performances will be presented on the main stage at Trg Svetog Trojstva on Sunday before the start of the Final Tambura Evening.
Finally, let's say that in the promenade area during all three days of the festival, rich fair where representatives of family farms, associations and trades will exhibit their products, i.e. all those who contribute to the authenticity of this region.
