Few have not heard of Agatha Christie's cult novel "Murder on the Orient Express". But do you know that in that story the train that became the scene of the murder was passing right through Vinkovce, the rails of flat Slavonia? That train once upon a time really ran on the tracks here and traveled on to exotic places, and Mrs. Christie in reality often traveled on it.
The second race was named after the Orient Express Vinkovac racing trilogy which started with the Orion race.
Races through the history of the oldest city in Europe
The Orient Express will run through Vinkovac's city streets on Saturday, May 6th. The start is in the city center at 17:XNUMX p.m., and the length of the section is 10 kilometers.
Pick-up of start packages is on the day of the race from 16:00, and the start package includes the official race shirt, unique start number, finisher's medal, refreshments and prizes for the first three places in the men's and women's competition. The entry fee is 20 euros, and the announcement of the winners and the awarding of prizes in both categories for the first three places is scheduled for 18:30 p.m., followed by a concert and a DJ performance.
A final treat – Valens Victorius
The Vinkovac racing trilogy ends with the third race Valens Victorius which will be run 18. June. It is a race with obstacles, 4,5 kilometers long. Its name is linked to the rich Roman history of Vinkovci, and it represents a fun, half-adrenaline race that decides the overall winner of the Vinkovci trilogy every year.

This unique and magnificent race in the heart of Slavonia, full of challenges and fun, will be held as part of the event Roman days, and like every year, it is held in memory of the tragically killed Croatian veteran Nedjeljko Klarić.
At the end of the trilogy, the times of all three races are added up to give the total time for each competitor and crown the fastest and most agile. The announcement of the overall winners will take place after the completion of the Valens Victorius race on June 18, 2023, at Šokački stan Vinkovci.
