Lošinj is an island in Kvarner that stretches 31 kilometers in a northwest-southeast direction. More important settlements on the island are Mali and Veli Lošinj. You will often hear about Lošinj, how he is climatic health resort - the spa climate, the rich biodiversity of medicinal plants and essential oils, the unique combination of natural sea aerosols in combination with clean air and the sea, are the basis of the tradition of health tourism on Lošinj, for more than 125 years.
This island on which there are more than 260 sunny days annually, it has become synonymous with the sweet-smelling Mediterranean landscape, so while you visit the beaches and refresh yourself in the sea, pay attention to the smells and take a deep breath - your body will thank you.
PS Let the wind in your hair and the view of the open sea enrich your day at the beach, because you will find the most beautiful hidden pearls of this island by boat, and maybe on the way you will also meet good dolphins - friends of Lošinj!
1. Beach Veli žal
This is the first Lošinj beach to which it has been assigned Blue flag. It is ideal for families with children, especially because of the small pebbles and easy access to the sea. There is also a descent into the sea for people with reduced mobility.
If you want to explore the landscape in addition to swimming - go for a walk. Above the Veli žal beach, there is a promenade path that connects the two most beautiful coves of Lošinj: Čikat cove and Sunčana uvala.
2. Artatore bay
The settlement and cove of Artatore is located on the southern part of the island of Lošinj, 8 kilometers before the town of Mali Lošinj. Artatore includes several beaches - each one is rocky, and you will feel smaller pebbles on the ground and in the sea. There you will find i shade thanks to the pine forest by the beach, and you can reach it by your own by car, bicycle, on foot or by boat. There are also showers and changing cabins on the beach.
3. Bojčić Beach
This beach is located on the eastern side of the island, in the area of Zagazinja, approximately half a kilometer from Mali Lošinj.
Although it is very small, it has a large number of fans. The coast is rocky, and the beach is pebbly and suitable for children. This beach offers real refreshment: whether you choose to refresh yourself in the crystal clear sea, in the shade of the pine forest or in the shower that the beach is equipped with. If you are looking for something more content - it passes above the beach seafront which takes you to restaurants, a children's playground and a shop.
4. Bok beach – a kind of symbol of the island of Susak
Sand beaches are your favorites? Then this one is made for you! The sandy expanse and shallow sea are an ideal choice for families with children, and speaking of sand - interesting thing follows: The sand there also has a healing effect, which proves the choice of Bok beach for the Lošinj spa at the beginning of the 20th century.
The beach is located on the neighboring island of Susko, only a 15-minute walk from both settlements - Upper and Lower villages.
Given that there is no vegetation or shade on the beach, this beach will be the first choice for everyone who wants to return home tanned complexion (nevertheless, be careful not to expose yourself to the sun during the period when it is strongest and be sure to bring sunscreen and headgear).
5. Borik Cove
Not far from Sunčana uvala below the Vespera Hotel, approximately one kilometer from the center of Mali Lošinj - she settled down the fascinating pebbly cove Borik. It is a frequent choice for families with children because of the easy access to the sea, and because it is equipped with all the necessary amenities.
And on this beach, everyone who enjoys sunbathing will find their own way - the beach faces west and is illuminated by the sun all day long, and there are also flat rocks on which you can lie undisturbed and absorb vitamin D.
Idea: Flat rocks during the day are, as we wrote, ideal for sunbathing, and we suggest that you take a walk there in the early evening, sit on the rocks and enjoy a particularly beautiful sunset. In the distance, towards the west, the inhabited, sandy island of Susak can be seen.
6. Valdarke beach
Explore the enchanting nature of this beach walking, jogging or cycling! This bay, where you will find two smaller pebble beaches, is located near Mali Lošinj, and there you will also see a small fishing port surrounded by pine forest.
The bay is famous for its promenade that connects Mali and Veli Lošinj, so after swimming, go for a walk and enjoy the untouched nature that reminds you of some old, bygone times. Along the way, you will pass many more small coves, each of which hides a long-kept secret throughout history. Just keep walking because the promenade will reward you with a view towards Cres, Rab, Pag and Palacol and the Velebit mountain on the mainland. The cove is sheltered and is often a haven for many sailors.
7. Meli beach – sandy paradise
Everyone who comes to this beach first stops and admires the natural beauty of this hidden cove. "Sand paradise" - it is often called. It is three kilometers from Punta Križ, and it can be reached by macadam road from Punta Kri. Getting to the beach is a kind of adventure and not the easiest - but believe me, it will pay off a hundredfold.
The sea is quite shallow there, so the temperature is more pleasant because of that - it's no surprise to hear that someone is there bathed in October as well. It is also ideal for romantics who want a more private vacation and time on the beach just for themselves because there are not frequent crowds.
Not to surprise you: The beach is surrounded by dense maquis, where it is not rare to meet fallow deer.
