Blue Line - the first tourist map of Zagreb for wheelchair users

With the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board, Plavi telefon created the “Blue Line” - a tourist ticket for wheelchairs in the center of Zagreb. The ticket is free and you can find it in the information centers of the Zagreb Tourist Board. You can download the digital version of the map at links.

When we decide to visit one of the tourist destinations of the city, a cultural landmark or a museum - we simply choose a place, buy a ticket if necessary and visit it - nothing easier! However, if you are a person with a disability and use a wheelchair, many things can be difficult - is there adequate access to the location, are the pedestrian crossings accessible, do you need the assistance of another person while moving?

- People in wheelchairs travel regularly, and at least one or even two people accompany them on their travels. The tourist offer in our country has not been developed yet, but the Zagreb Tourist Board has recognized and supported this project, points out the president of the Blue Phone Association and the leader of the "Blue Line" project Miran Vučenović.

With the help of Blue Line cards travel and visit to the tourist sights of the city of Zagreb you can adapt it to your wishes and needs, you can explore locations and accessible routes where there are no obstacles that make it difficult to move in a wheelchair.

- Mapping the center of Zagreb, which is most interesting to tourists, was a long process, but we came up with invaluable data. In one place now there are problem points in the city, pedestrian crossings and much more that will facilitate the movement of people in wheelchairs, Vucenovic explains.

The project was created in cooperation with the Blue Phone Association, the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences in Zagreb and the CeDePe Association, with the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board. They are the result of several months of mapping the city center printed and digital map with accessible routes to Zagreb. The Blue Phone also plans to develop a "Blue Line" mobile application.

- This product creates a new tourist offer of the city, and puts Zagreb on the list of affordable European destinations. The mobile application, which is our ultimate goal, requires large financial resources. We are currently in the process of finding a partner in Croatia with whom we would enter the project, and we are also planning to apply for an EU tender., said Vucenovic.

The information on the map is bilingual, in Croatian and English, and it is intended for the citizens of Zagreb, domestic and foreign tourists. According to Vučenović, the Blue Phone Association plans to share the knowledge gathered through this project with other associations interested in cooperation. The desire is similar make maps in other Croatian cities, and the Blue Phone offers its support and cooperation.
