Brandies, liqueurs and distillates are alcoholic beverages obtained by distilling fermented fruits or herbs. Brandy is a strong drink, while liqueurs are sweeter and flavored. Istria is known for brandies due to its rich tradition, mild climate and diverse herbs that grow here. The most famous Istrian brandies are biska (mistletoe brandy), medica (brandy with honey), travarica (brandy with medicinal herbs) and ruta (brandy with rue). These drinks are part of Istrian culture and are often offered as a sign of hospitality and used in gastronomy.

At Old School Distillery it was presented the second consecutive edition of the event Days of distillates in central Istria - Central Istria Spirits Days. Representatives of distilleries from central Istria participated in the press conference: Albert Koraca (Koraca Distillery), Armando Lušetić (Kotal Distillery), Marko Krulčić (Krulčić Distillery), Tatjana Ljubešić (Old School Distillery) and Marin Maras (La Vie Winery). then the head of the Administrative Department for Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting, Fisheries and Water Management of the County of Istria Ezio Pinzan, the Director of the Tourist Board of Central Istria Sanja Kantaruti and the President of the Association Lambic Renato Krulčić.

- This event is very valuable for our county, it is complementary to GinIstra, which also promotes strong alcoholic beverages., declares the head of the Administrative Department for Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting, Fisheries and Water Management of the County of Istria Ezio Pinzan. - I would also like to thank the Lambik Association, which has defined the quality of its products for several years. Now he is also working on the standardization of brandy, and the ultimate goal is product protection so that quality, traditional products can be drunk in our county and every consumer will be able to get them, and TZSI on the organization of this commendable event.

The event is dedicated to the promotion of brandy, liqueurs and distillates, alcoholic beverages obtained by distilling fermented fruits or herbs for which Istria is known due to its rich tradition, mild climate and diverse herbs that grow here. Days of distillates in central Istria - Central Istria Spirits Days will be held over three weekends, starting on November 23, 2024 and ending on December 8. The program will last from 13:19 to 7:8, and it will be attended by producers of distillates from the area of ​​central Istria - Destilerija Krulčić (Lindar), La Vie Winery (Tinjan), Old School Distillery (Sveti Lovreč) and OPG Koraca (Motovunski Novaki) and Kotal ( Cerovlje), who will participate in the event on December XNUMX and XNUMX.

- The range of our products is wide, from liqueurs, gins and brandies. However, for the open days we decided on a short selection where we will present our brandies such as vinjak, Saint Laurent, our brandy kept in barrique. Our second product is the Correttino coffee liqueur with a rich creamy taste, very good and recognizable among all our products, and the third is the gold-awarded Autumn gin London dry gin, which won a gold medal at GinIstra this year, says the owner of Old School Distillery Tatjana Ljubešić.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy free tastings, but also participate in the preparation of their own distillates with expert guidance. The event is unique because it offers an opportunity for active participation in the distillation process, which further promotes the rich Istrian tradition. This event offers an opportunity to feel the charm of community and hospitality that Istria is proud to cherish, says the director Central Istria Tourist Board, Sanja Kantaruti, and adds that the goal of this manifestation is the promotion of Istrian distillates and the preservation of tradition, emphasizing the importance of local customs and the richness of the flora of Istria.

Producers of distillates from the TZ area of ​​central Istria make their products according to family recipes that have been handed down for generations. In Istria, brandy production is more than a tradition - it is a way of life that connects generations. - The purpose and goal of the Lambik Association is to educate our consumers through these events, first of all as producers, and to create a good image of Istrian brandy that can be placed alongside all other brandies in the world. Of course, both producers and end consumers need to be educated for this, says the president of the Lambik Association, Renato Krulcic.

The organizer of the event is Central Istria Tourist Board, while the co-organizer is the Lambik Association. The event is co-financed by the Administrative Department for Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting, Fishing and Water Management of the County of Istria through a public call for grants for projects in the fields of agriculture and economy.
