Do you know which is the foggiest city in Croatia? It's not Karlovac!

Fog is a characteristic phenomenon precisely for the days of late autumn and while some people do not like it because it makes traffic difficult and heralds winter days, some enjoy it, calling it dreamy and even romantic. Rhymes and songs were written about her, and the most famous among Croats is the fog sung by the musical diva Josip Lisac.

Fog everywhere, fog around us...

For those of you who find fog a phenomenon in which you find inspiration, a touch of mysticism and even romance, we suggest a trip to some of the foggiest parts of Croatia.

The team at Reddit made an effort to compile a list of the foggiest cities in Croatia using data from the State Hydrometeorological Institute on the number of days of fog. Although many expected him to be in the first place Karlovac in which fog is the reason for existence and interesting "Fog Festival" which was completed yesterday in the city on four rivers, the foggiest city in Croatia is located much further east.

Slavonski Brod has 42 days more fog than Karlovac

  1. Slavonski Brod 119 days of fog per year on average!
  2. Karlovac 77
  3. Parg (Čabar) 71
  4. Križevci 67
  5. Sisak 65
  6. Zagreb 51
  7. Varaždin 51
  8. Pazin 51
  9. Gospić 48
  10. Bjelovar 46
  11. Ogulin 36
  12. Osijek 35
  13. Knin 11
  14. Rijeka 4
  15. Šibenik 4
  16. Mali Lošinj 4
  17. Zadar 3
  18. Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar and Senj 0

Yet Slavonski Brod is not the foggiest place in Croatia, namely outside the category of cities, the first place of the foggiest place in Croatia belongs Zavižana with as many as 191 foggy days in the year.

They are ideal destinations for those who do not like fog at all Split, Hvar and Senj, and for romantics in love with this phenomenon, Slavonski Brod, Karlovac and Gorski kotar are certainly the best choices. Our capital is also high on the list of foggy cities, and only Karlovac successfully uses fog as a tourist attraction thanks to its Fog Festival.

The list includes cities where DHMZ conducts measurements, so many in the comments on Reddit are wondering where Samobor, Jastrebarsko or Kastav are on this list, which are also known as cities where fog is a frequent occurrence.

The issue of pollution, especially in Slavonski Brod and Zagreb, is also justified, which is another not so romantic topic.
