The third largest island of the Adriatic Sea offers something for everyone. Brač is an island of stone, olive and premium olive oil, attractive beaches, beautiful nature and relaxed lifestyle.

Visitors usually come to Brač by ferry from Split to Supetar, which with its 4.000 inhabitants is the largest settlement and administrative center of the island of Brač. The small island town, located on the northern side of the island, contains many undiscovered beauties and is a great choice for a summer vacation, but also a starting point for exploring the island.
The name Supetar was first mentioned in 1423, and today's urban features were given during the 17th and 18th centuries when it was inhabited by the inhabitants of Donji Humac, but the history of the city and the entire island of Brač dates back to Roman times. That is why there is no lack of cultural and historical monuments in Supetar, but also in the surrounding area.
For those who have a slightly different lifestyle and do not want to look for accommodation in one of the hotels, apartments, rooms, etc., they can also camp in Supetar. Camp Bunja is located in an old pine forest, fused with the surroundings, on the coast.

And the surroundings of Supetar offer a lot of possibilities. Less than a ten minute drive away is the village of Škrip with a long history and culture and is also the oldest village on the island. That is why it is not surprising that the Museum of the island of Brač is also located there.

But in addition to the historical museum, there is also a museum in Škrip Uncle's museum, which tells a wonderful story about the tradition of olive growing and olive oil production on the island of Brač. The family museum offers a selection of local souvenirs and olive oil products.

If we go from Supetar to the southeast we come to the church of St. Martin, which was built on a hill between Bobovišća and Milna with an overview of the waters from Split Gate to Hvar and Vis. This church is also part of the hiking trail Via Brattia, which connects 12 historic sites and a number of picturesque places in the length of 135 kilometers.

We must not forget to mention the hermitage of Blac, once a famous Glagolitic desert, and later an observatory. It is located on the southern side of the island of Brač, between Bol and Milna, and is a protected cultural property. The Blac desert as a community of Polish Glagolitic people was founded in the middle of the 16th century under the Ljubitovica cave in a valley far from the sea.

Not far from Blac is the highest peak of the Adriatic archipelago, Vidova gora, which offers a beautiful view of Bol, the popular Zlatni Rat beach, and the island of Hvar.

What Brač has also been known for, for centuries, is Brac stone, or marble. There is also a legend that the White House, the home of American presidents, as well as the palace of Emperor Diocletian in Split, was built from the stone from Brač, and it is said that he was the biggest promoter of Brač stone. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Pučišća Masonry School is located on the island of Brač.

But the island of Brač is not only a historical and cultural destination. It is home to one of the most famous beaches, whose photos have traveled around the world. Of course, we are talking about Zlatni rat beach in Bol.

But apart from Bol, beautiful beaches can boast of a large number of settlements on Brač. In Sumartin, for example, which you can reach by ferry from Makarska, there is Zora beach, and on the opposite side of the island in Milna is Osibova beach.

And when you visit all interesting places on the island of Brač, of which we have listed only a few in this article, the energy needs to be renewed. One thing is certain, you will not go hungry on Brač.

Brac hides a lot more, but we don't want to reveal everything to you. It is up to you to explore this beautiful and unique island of untouched nature, rich history and culture.
