HPS invites people with disabilities on a hiking trip

Disability can limit us, but with the help of good people, it is sometimes possible to cross those boundaries. Working Group on Persons with Disabilities in the Guides Commission Croatian Mountaineering Association she invited everyone interested to a hiking trip HPD Railwayman from Zagreb called "Give me your hand - together to Oštrc". The trip will take place on Sunday 20. March, and is intended for people with disabilities who want to move in the mountains, aware of their limitations but also unaware of their capabilities.

Hiking guides and members of HPD Željezničar with mountaineering experience will take part in this trip as mountaineering support, united in their goal to give a mountaineering hand and help during the walk.

Each participant is expected to have a mandatory escort and to make it easier for the guides and members of HPD Željezničar to lead by carefully listening to the instructions and behaving responsibly during the trip.

The route of the trip is technically undemanding; there are no pronounced slopes, but the trail climbs slightly. Every level of fitness is welcome, and the pace of the walk will be adjusted to the capabilities of each participant of the trip. The duration of the walk is estimated at a total of 4 hours. From the equipment it is necessary to have sturdy shoes for walking in nature, as well as a backpack with water, spare clothes, food and personal belongings, and hiking poles.

Sharp is the top of the alpine look in the center Samobor mountains. It is well visible from afar and is recognizable by the steep slopes on both sides. Its top part is not covered with forest, and it is characterized by large slopes, so it offers wide views. On the south side of the peak is a 15 m high rock Flinka which serves as an alpine training ground. Below the top of Oštrc is the Željezničar mountain lodge, supplied with food and drink.

When applying for a trip, it is necessary to clarify the specifics of the disability, because this information will determine the number of participants. You will not be denied participation in the trip unless it is a matter of your and the escort's safety, or the inability to provide adequate escort support during the walk, which is decided by the tour guides.

By responding to the trip, each individual confirms that they approach the trip at their own risk, and that in accordance with mountaineering ethics, they will adhere to the trip plan, decisions and instructions of the guide. Guides have the right to change the excursion program according to objective circumstances in the field.

The exact time and place of departure will be announced after the registration is completed. The application deadline is Friday, March 11th. You can see more about the applications here.
