The fourth edition of the Lumiart light festival has opened in Dubrovnik, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and produced by Pixel dizajn. After the official opening, the audience enjoyed the premiere of 3D mapping "Evolution of Light", after which all the other festival locations lit up in turn.
Pixel design is a pioneer of 3D mapping in Croatia, which today is produced more and more rarely in the world due to the exceptional complexity of its production. "Evolution of Light" was made just for Lumiart, and it takes viewers on a fascinating journey through the history and significance of light, showing the transformation from its natural sources to modern applications and key turning points in scientific discoveries and artistic expression.
The members of the Martiniuss circus contributed to the magical atmosphere with their point "White Light Stilt Angels".
On the front of Sponza, other attractive 3D mappings were alternated, like a fantasy video spectacle “Life” guest Macedonian artist Emil Petro, and a retrospective of Pixel design works from 2012 to the present day. It was particularly interesting inside the Sponza, where there is an impressive three-meter mask, an installation by the Romanian artist Ignat Radu.
On the wall of the Cele cafe bar, colorful children's works from the workshop in cooperation with the Dubrovnik Museum of Natural History are displayed, and a projection dedicated to significant women in the world of technology with an emphasis on the innovator Hedy Lamarr is shown. A 3D mapping of sacred themes was shown at the Cathedral "1700 years of Saint Blaise", prepared on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Blaise.
Držić's square was filled with interactive installations "Megaball" and "I Need a Break" Pula's Visualia, where there was no shortage of fun for the little ones. A walk through the city is truly special, from the very entrance through the gates of Pil, where the attention is drawn by an interactive installation "Leaf Motion – Kaleidoscope" by Hungarian artists FenyHangAr, across the Stradun, which is colored with colorful projections by the Hungarian collective Night Projection. The approach to the city also heralds the magic of light that takes place over the next three days, as the walls have also taken on a new look.
