Central Istria is once again becoming a stage for authentic experiences this summer, thanks to the project Discover Central Istria – Explore Central Istria which is organizing for the fourth year in a row Central Istria Tourist Board. From June to September, domestic and foreign visitors can expect a mosaic of rich content that combines culture, music, gastronomy and tradition.
The program starts free tourist tours Central Istria Free Walk Tour, which lead through the historic centers of Pazin, Pićan, Gračišće, Tinjan and Sveti Lovreč. The tours were held in Croatian and English from June 2nd to 19th and again from August 18 to September 25.
For lovers of local cuisine, there are Routes of flavors of central Istria, interpretive walks that combine interesting local stories with tastings of indigenous specialties – ideal for foodies looking for a true Istrian experience. These gastro-walks will take place throughout July.
Music connoisseurs will find their way through Central Istria Music Experience, a program that includes concerts in nine destinations. From jazz, ethno to classical music, the audience will be able to enjoy performances by top musicians, including Benjamin Šuran, Nuša Hauser, JazzIstra Orkestar and many others.
Summer brings a special charm Central Istria Open Air Cinema – an open-air cinema that features screenings of animated and family films in June, July and August, starting on June 26th in Karojba.
In addition to the central program, local municipalities and cities offer rich additional content. Pay attention comes to life with "Summer in the Park", Tinja offers the program “Do it from the comfort of your own home”, and Saint Lovreč organizes local product fairs through "Gušte Lovreča".
They are also indispensable traditional folk festivals which are held throughout the region and bring people together in joy, with music, Istrian specialties and a friendly atmosphere.
The project is being implemented with the support of Croatian National Tourist Board, and the goal is clear – to bring the unique experiences of the heart of Istria closer to all visitors.
