Although peaceful and tame, Zagreb County is the scene of centuries and centuries of turbulent history, and over time, a rich cultural heritage has accumulated. Every corner hides its peculiarities, its own heritage, which it proudly preserves and passes on today.

Museums are the best guardians of local identity, places where the unique story of a region is most clearly told. If you let them, only seemingly modest exhibition establishments from around Zagreb will turn your visit into an exciting adventure that enriches the mind and broadens horizons.
1. Samobor Museum
The long and interesting history of the large small town of Samobor and its surroundings is gathered in a charming noble castle, and includes an archaeological-geological, ethnographic, cultural-historical and artistic collection. 2. Donja Kupčina Homeland Museum
Museum in the open in the municipality of Pisarovina is a collection of authentic village houses with outbuildings and a collection of ethnographic objects that takes us back to some almost forgotten times from the late 19th and early 20th century.

3. Sv. Barbara, Rude
Part of the once famous copper and iron mine with almost 500 years of tradition has been converted into an authentic one muzej which tells the mining history of this area, and the experience is complemented by a mining-botanical educational trail 1.500 meters long.

4. Sveti Ivan Zelina Museum
At first only a native collection, Museum of St. John Zelina today it preserves vast material from prehistory to the present arranged in seventeen collections and provides the broadest picture of life in and around the city.

5. Brdovec Museum
A peaceful municipality in the northwest of Zagreb County in an Art Nouveau building has collected and exhibited collections depicting a long history Zaprešić and its surroundings, ie the area from the western slopes of Medvednica to Sutla.

6. Ivanić-Grad Museum
In short existence since 2016, this enterprising muzej it has already established itself as a treasury for the heritage of Ivanić-Grad, from history and ethnography to natural treasures, but also an active participant in the life of the local community.
7. Matija Skurjeni Museum

Matija Skurjeni, a world-famous painter and Croatian naive with an impressive biography, donated a part of his opus to Zaprešić for the future gallery back in 1984. She then grew into muzej about his life and work, located within the unique complex of the New Palaces.
8. Turopolje Museum
Located in the building of the former old town hall, this one from Velika Gorica muzej through the ethnographic, cultural-historical, archeological and art collection since 1960, it provides insight into various aspects of life in Turopolje.

9. City Museum and Gallery Jastrebarsko
City Museum and the gallery are housed in a representatively remodeled building of the old town hall built in 1826. The museum preserves the archaeological, cultural-historical and ethnographic heritage of the Jastrebarsko region. The famous "bull" is also exhibited here - the charter of King Bela IV by which on January 12, 1257, Jastrebarsko was granted the status of a free royal city. Not far from Jaska in Krašić you can visit Memorial room of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac.

10. Žumberak Uskok Museum
It was opened in 2006, on St. George's Day, the feast of the patron saint of the parish, in the former farm building of the parish court in Stojdrag. It exhibits a valuable collection of ethnographic objects that until recently were used daily by the people of Žumberak. If you’ve never seen a hemp comb before and you don’t know what nachves are, don’t miss a tour of this interesting space. A little further in Sošice, in the convent of the Basilian Sisters, there is a valuable ethnographic collection.
