Kornati National Park
In the central part of the Croatian Adriatic, at the place where the islands of Šibenik and Zadar meet, there is a recognizable and in many ways special group of islands called Kornati. Due to the exceptional landscape beauties, interesting geomorphology, large indentation of the coastline and especially rich biocenoses of the marine ecosystem, which make up more than three quarters of the total area, In 1980, most of the Kornati archipelago was declared a national park.
Today, the Kornati National Park occupies an area of about 220 square kilometers. It includes a total of 89 islands, islets and reefs, with approximately 238 kilometers of coastline.
Yellow-Sith group of islands
The significant landscape of the Žut-Sit island group was declared protected in 1967 as part of the reserves of the natural landscape of the Kornati archipelago. This archipelago it consists of a total of 35 islands which are not included in the borders of the Kornati National Park or the Telašćica Nature Park. The special value of the archipelago is the many scattered bays, rocks and reefs. There are also seagrass meadows, which are of crucial importance for the survival and reproduction of marine organisms and for the maintenance of underwater biodiversity.
Quiet bays of Kaprije
The island of Kaprije, located in the central part of the Šibenik archipelago, between the uninhabited islands of Zmajan and Kakan, offers excellent conditions for nautical activities. Its few quiet coves are a balm for the eyes of all visitors who are so lucky to sail through this part of the archipelago. The turquoise sea that surrounds the beautiful islands and lovely bays is the best evidence of the purity and accessibility of the Croatian Adriatic and is considered a true monument of untouched nature.
Coral reefs of Zlarin and Prvić
Small distance between islands Zlarina and Prvić, as well as their small distance from the coast, create long rows of coral reefs and rock formations, ideal for bottle diving and exploring the rich seabed.
Lush marine life and enchanting hot corals they are reward enough in themselves. However, you can experience much more if you go on adventures in the interior of the island and ride a bike along picturesque wild beaches, picturesque hills, lush coniferous forests, well-kept fig groves and vineyards, and fragrant olive groves.
