Lokvarsko Lake
The artificial lake in Lokva is up to 40 meters deep in some places. It stretches all the way to the foot of Risnjak, which makes a unique visual postcard of Gorski Kotar. It was created by the construction of a dam in 1954, which stopped the flow of the Lokvarka river. A meeting of mountaineers, hikers and cyclists is traditionally held by Lake Lokvar. In addition to walking along the lake, you can also swim in it in the summer, and it is suitable for fishing all year round.
"Cacina Raft" is an attraction built by the Crnković family, Ferdinand with his wife Antonija and his sister Bruna Arbanas Crnković, after several years of hard work. The raft is officially registered for 40 people, but it is ideal if there are 25 people on it, because then it is possible to explain everything necessary to everyone at the same time and introduce them in detail to the beauty of this lake.
"Big Beasts" visitor center and Stara Sušica castle
In the area of Risnjak, three big beasts found their home - a bear, a wolf and a lynx. In Stara Sušica there is a place where you can get to know each of these species better. As soon as you enter "Big Beasts" Visitor Center, you will feel the pure emotion of nature and forest surroundings. His setting is a combination of classical and modern interpretation of Gorski kotar.
It is located right next to the Center Stara Sušica Castle which is a real historical gem of Gorski Kotar and where fans of Harry Potter and wizardry come into their own. The "Hogwarts" school of wizardry is located at 800 meters above sea level, in an untouched, centuries-old forest with diverse flora and fauna.
Fužine and surroundings
The Goran town of Fužine is a well-known destination with a long tourist tradition. The place is located at 730 meters above sea level, the climate is a continental variant of the Mediterranean with particularly beautiful spring, summer and autumn.
A particularly significant tourist attraction of the Fužina region is the Vrelo cave. It is well lit and arranged for visits with an expert guide. It is 300 meters long, and its specificity is that it is the only touristic cave in Croatia through which underground water flows.
The cowboy village of Roswell is also very attractive for visitors, the famous backdrop of the cult film Winnetou based on the novels of the German writer Karl May. Roswell offers everything that the conquerors of the Wild West once had - a large wooden railway structure, a chapel, benches and a cemetery, as well as a blacksmith shop, a horse trough and a stable, a bank, a saloon, a brewery, a Chinese laundry, a post office and a telegraph, a store, a water tower, a small sawmill, a public bathroom, an interesting house ruled by Fat Betty and Sweet Dolly, and of course the sheriff's office.
