Bašća plaque
The cultural heritage of the municipality of Baška revives history and makes it a place with a rich source of interesting things. Croatian Glagolitic is a historical Croatian script and one of the indispensable symbols of national identity, on the basis of which we are still recognizable and unique in Europe and the world. The oldest Croatian Glagolitic monument is the Bašćanska ploča in Jurandvor on the island of Krk.

In 1851, a young priest from Bašća, Petar Dorčić, discovered in the floor of the early Romanesque church of St. Lucius in Jurandvor near Baška, a large stone tablet inscribed with verb characters. The text written on the tablet interested the scientists of the time. It became an important source of information about the development of the Croatian Glagolitic script, the Croatian language and culture. He confirmed the existence of the Croatian state from the earliest days, mentions the name of the Croatian king Zvonimir and marks the northern borders of his kingdom on the island of Krk.

The text of the tablet was partially read in 1865 and completely in 1875. The tablet is actually a confirmation of the donation of land that King Zvonimir gave to the Benedictine monastery of St. Lucius. The plaque lists the witnesses to the donation and describes the time when the donation took place. From this it can be concluded that it dates back to the year 1100.

In 1934, the original Bašćan plaque was transferred to the Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb, where it is still located today, and in the church of St. Lucia, there is a copy of it. The church and the partially restored monastery complex today attract a large number of visitors.
Vela beach
Vela plaža is certainly one of the most attractive and most visited destinations for swimmers, which primarily amazes with its length. Namely, it stretches for 1800 meters, the sea is crystal clear, and the view is enchanting.

The beach of dreams, as some call it, is attractive to all generations. The combination of pebbles on the beach and sand as soon as you step into the sea are an ideal combination for families with children or picigino lovers. For those who want to spend most of the day on the beach and not get sunburned, they can find shade in a small wood.
On Vela beach, visitors can also enjoy a multitude of activities and facilities. In its immediate vicinity, there are numerous cafes and restaurants, and on the beach itself it is possible to rent paddle boats, windsurfing boards, umbrellas and sunbeds. Vela beach is located in the center of the city, so it is also attractive for evening outings or short walks.

It is worth noting that there is a dog beach at the very end of Vela plaža, so that neither the owners nor their pets are deprived of enjoying this pearl of the northern Adriatic.
Walkway to the moon
The Plateau of the Moon or the Plateau of the Moon is one of the greatest natural sights on the island of Krk, located above the Vrženica canyon. This area resembles the surface of the moon, and is located 380 meters above sea level.

To this, one of the most famous locations in Baška, the popular promenade "Path to the Moon" leads you, which offers a unique experience of a natural phenomenon, integrated into a historical landmark and tourist attraction.

On the first part of the path "Path to the Moon" is the church of St. John the Baptist, in front of which you will find a viewpoint where some of the most recognizable photos of Baška were taken. From this place there is a stunning view of the Baška valley, the island of Prvić, the blue sea and one of the symbols of Baška – Vela plaža. The almost three-kilometer promenade passes through a forest area that leads to a karst and rocky completely exposed plateau known as the "Plateau of the Moon".

If you want more challenges, you can continue along the promenade "Road to the Moon" towards Hlam, a peak located at 461 meters above sea level and offers the opportunity to enjoy even more far-reaching views. If you decide to go all the way from Baška to Hlam, you will find about seven kilometers of moderately demanding trails, and the walk will take about three hours.
The scumbags
Baška is an ideal destination for lovers of research and incredible interesting things. One of the most important and perhaps the most beautiful examples of folk architecture in Baška are the mrgari. These are dry-wall buildings intended for the occasional collection and sorting of sheep. They consist of a common central space - the hall - and like the petals of a flower arranged mrgarići which are the individual property of the shepherds.

They were used so that all the gathered shepherds chased the sheep from the pasture towards the funnel-shaped entrance of the sheepfold. When the sheep gathered in the hall, the entrance would be closed and each shepherd would separate his sheep and lock them in his sheepfold. When he would do his work in the mrgarić - inspecting the sheep, shearing them or whatever - he would let them through the outside opening of the mrgarić back to the pasture, or commune as it is commonly called in this area.
///Mrgari – fascinating stone flowers of Baška
The special feature of these "stone flowers" is that you can only find them on the southern part of the island of Krk. They were built only by shepherds from Bašćanska dolina, and not all of them. Shepherds from Baška, Batomlje and Jurandvor are responsible for this rhapsody in stone.

Mrgara has ten. There are five of them on each plateau, and five more on the neighboring island of Prvić. They are used for grazing by the same shepherds from the three mentioned places. Mrgari are extremely rare drywall constructions. Similar buildings in Europe are currently known only on two other islands in the UK and Iceland, and in the Swiss Alps.
Zipline Edison
Zipline Edison is a unique attraction on the island of Krk and beyond. It is located on the Treskavac pass along the state road D 102, in the immediate vicinity of the famous Glagolitic path, i.e. at the viewpoint near the letter A.

The starting point is also the highest point of the zipline, and from there you will see the most beautiful scenery - a view of the very south of the island of Krk, Baška and the island of Prvić. The ride lasts approximately two hours on numerous cables with a view of the Adriatic Sea and the stunning rugged landscape.
