Travel back to the Middle Ages - we take you to Klis Fortress!

If you are planning to visit Split, here is one perfect trip for all generations! Klis Fortress have so far been mostly visited by domestic tourists, but recently its popularity has grown significantly, and the fortress has become an important part of visits to Split and Dalmatia.

Klis Fortress this Sunday marked International family day. For this occasion, the Municipality of Klis provided free admission to all visitors with participation in appropriate facilities of local associations and art societies in the municipality. So we decided to take a tour!

In addition to educational and entertainment facilities, visitors to the Klis Fortress could see and Oprah tower, the most important medieval stronghold of the fortress and Uskok armory, a former weapons depot. One of the main attractions is Providur's apartment or The prince's house, which was built in the middle of the 17th century and renovated in 2016.

A visit to Klis Fortress would not be complete without a tour Church of St. Life, one of the most beautiful buildings within the Fortress, which is special in that it is one of the few examples of Islamic architecture in Dalmatia.

Road to Klis Fortress it may seem complicated, but in reality it is quite simple. Klis Fortress is located 15 kilometers from Split, near the entrance to the A1 highway. It is easily accessible by car, and there is free parking near the fortress. From Split to Klis there are several bus lines that run several times a day during the summer season. You can check the schedule at Split bus station.

When it's not free 🙂 ticket price for Klis Fortress it is 75 kuna for adults and 20 kuna for children. The ticket is also valid for the ethno park Stella Croatica not far from Klis Fortress.

In addition to the plant for the production of traditional sweets and ethno-villages with an ethnographic collection of a typical village of the Dalmatian hinterland with olive groves, gardens and aroma park, guests have at their disposal the first private botanical garden.
