One wine story – Croatia and Slovenia toast to the same story
The Dobra Berba winery in Sv. Jana also hosted a panel discussion this morning “One Wine Story – Croatia and Slovenia toast to the same story”, which gathered the key voices of sustainable wine tourism from both sides of the border as part of the Via Vino Festival 2025. The EU project was in focus InterWine and the question of how to turn the wine tradition into a responsible, long-term sustainable tourism product that respects nature, community and heritage and creates a shared cross-border destination.
Led by a moderator Ivana Alilović, director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, participated Petra Boić Petrač (WWF Adria), Saša Štula (Dobra Berba Winery), Vlado Mikulčić (Association “Grozd” Velika Gorica), Katja Pinterič (Vina Pinterič, SLO), Filip Bernardić (Municipality of Pušća) i Andreja Mihelin (Mihelin Winery, SLO). The topics of regenerative viticulture, the balance of tradition and innovation, the threats of urbanization of wine-growing areas, and the combination of offers to create a complete, sustainable destination were emphasized. Added value was brought by the presence of 50 students from the Hotel and Tourism School in Zagreb, to whom the practice of combining tradition, ecology and tourism was transmitted firsthand.

The panel is part of an EU project "InterWine: Combining cultural heritage and eno-tourism to create a sustainable cross-border destination", co-financed through Interreg Slovenia–Croatia with the support of ERDF. It is an ambitious 30-month project worth €1.383.080,02, selected among the 6 most successful out of 73 applications, whose goal is to develop a new joint tourism product that combines the cultural heritage and tradition of winemaking and viticulture of Croatia and Slovenia. The partners are Zagreb County Tourist Board, City of Velika Gorica, Municipality of Pusca, Vocational school – adult education institution, Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth in Brežice, University of Maribor - Faculty of Tourism i Posavina Museum Brežice.
The panel confirmed that Via Vino consistently lives the values of sustainability and that through cross-border cooperation, the quality bar is being raised again to the satisfaction of visitors and the destination.
