From Thursday, 21. July 2022. among the remains of the Roman city of Fulfinum from the 1st century, in the locality of Mirine near Omisalj the thirteenth event in a row will be held - Days of Antiquity. An authentic celebration of ancient times will begin on Thursday at 19 p.m. with the "Family day" program, that is, a program dedicated entirely to children. On Friday and Saturday, July 22rd and 23th from 19 p.m., a central event will be held, accompanied by workshops, old crafts, gladiator fights, an entertainment program and the unmissable antique gastronomic offer of the restaurant Rivica from Njivica.
During both days, breast milk, lamb and chicken will be prepared according to ancient recipes, with fragrant herbs and sauces, ancient wine and beer and delicious ancient ice cream are available to visitors, so that guests will enjoy with all their senses. The rich antique table will come to its full expression with the multi-course festive dinner that he prepares restaurant Rivica.
Preservation of history and transfer of knowledge about Fulfinum prompted the organizers to introduce novelties in the offer intended for children and adolescents. Thus, an additional day was introduced with a program dedicated to that age group. On Thursday, July 21 from 19 p.m numerous separate workshops will be held - workshops of old games, music workshop, juggling workshop, workshops with wool and medicinal herbs, as well as an ancient illusionist show and an evening of Roman legends.
Some of the workshops will also take place on other days, and the cooperation with Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Coast Rijeka and National Geographic Croatia. odjel Miracle factories from the Maritime and History Museum have prepared Ancient Games with ancient coins and ancient props for the youngest. The workshop deals with the connections between tangible and intangible heritage. At the workshop, children learn about a part of everyday life in the past that is related to fun and leisure.
National Geographic Croatia will delight all the little ones with workshops organized in several categories – drawing, painting, searches with interactive maps, competitive and traditional treasure hunts. Educators participate in the project with specialized workshops focused on the cultural heritage of Mirina Fulfinum and the ecological awareness of the island of Krk.
As every year so far, this Ancient Days manifestation will be full of interesting contents that will bring the ancient Roman era to life. Everyone who will come to Mirine, with the light of torches, will enjoy the ambiance with authentic music, with the ancient group "Ad Rectum", juggling with fire and special fire performances with whips and swords, fairy dance, gladiator fight, formation of Roman soldiers and many costumed people Romans of different professions and classes. There will be Roman warriors and ladies, the emperor and empress, senators, ancient trades such as blacksmiths, potters, weavers, rope makers, children's carousel and archery, hairdressers and beauty salons, and the sight will be further enhanced by the opportunity to meet ponies and horses.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see how girls prepare for a Roman wedding, a hedonistic corner called Ancient dominoes – a touch of the Roman Empire through hairstyles, clothes and cosmetics which will be shown by guests from Pula, and this year the legionnaires from Split are also coming, popular Diocletian's Legion.
The members of the carnival associations from Omišalj invest a lot of effort in bringing this program to life, Babani and Babani of Omiš which in a revived Roman camp and two camps of Roman soldiers reenact the ancient era. The entertainment program will take place after 22 p.m. Friday is reserved for great fun with Infinity band and Saturday for the Point group.
The Ancient Days bring a special charm to our modern times and, of course, the location where the Ancient Days are held plays a key role in that. This year, the return to history will be even more striking, given that the celebration takes place over three days.
The organizers invite everyone to join them in the Ancient Days and to forget the present for a moment and indulge in a beautiful part of our past. It is estimated that between 1500 and 2000 visitors will enjoy the Ancient Days program next weekend.
